The problem with standard web cameras is that they offer a fixed point of view and if you move you have to move the camera too. That’s where the motion tracking web camera comes in. This cute device can be plugged into your PC or laptop via the USB port and it is capable of detecting motion and tracking it. It can pan through a 180 degree range and even tilt up through 60 degrees. It captures at a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels and at 30 frames per second. It also features a 4x digital zoom and a built in microphone.
The camera can even be controlled remotely via the Internet and it can be set up so that you receive an email notification when motion is detected allowing you to use it for home security or surveillance. It comes with the USB cable which allows direct control and powers the device and there is also software provided. It will work with Windows XP or Vista and it costs just under $90.
