The 37-megapixel Leica S2

Photography fans gather around. Why? Here is what could be “the best professional camera system in the world” or at least that’s what David Bell of Leica said about their newest 37-megapixel flagship S2 camera. Do you remember the Hasselblad H-series for professionals, well Leica thinks that their S2 is twice as fast as them and with much better performances at higher ISOs.

Looking at its design, is not something new, and to be honest we’re already used with the medium format in Canon’s EOS 5D or EOS 1Ds MkIII, but they say it offers the best when it comes to handling and flexibility. Aimed to top end users that can get the most out of it, the new Leica S2 is featuring a 56 percent larger sensor (30x45mm) than most of the 35mm DSLRs on the market.
“We have a stunning line-up of nine lenses in the S-system. Some will have leaf shutters to enable flash sync at fast shutter speeds, other will be smaller and rely on S2′s built in focal plane shutter. These brand new optic and high resolution [Kodak] sensor will produce images that are at the top of the professional game for many years to come,” said Maike Harberts, Leica product manager.
I really love it and you probably do, too, but just a piece of advice for these guys. Make sure it won’t cost millions …
