Sony launches four entry level cameras
Posted January 18th, 2007 by Alex IonSony is teasing us little by little. Last week at CES they have announced 16 new camcorders and today, it’s digital cameras day. Four new Sony Cyber-Shot entry level cameras have been announced today. Two W-series, DSC-W55 and DSC-W35 and two S-series DSC-S700 and DSC-S650. They all have some common features like 3X optical zoom, the 7.2 megapixel sensors or the Sony Memory Stick Duo cards.
Concerning the display of the new point-and-shoot cameras we have the biggest 2.5-inch on the DSC-W55, DSC-S700 is equipped with a 2.4-inch display and the last two DSC-W35 and S650 they both have a 2-inch LCD. As for powering the camera the W series will use AA batteries and the S series will be Li-Ion. One last thing about the W-series, they have Carl Zeiss lens, where the S-series feature Sony lens.
Sony is offering all the cameras in silver-only, but the W55. This one will have more colors: blue, pink, black and silver. Prices for the new entry level cameras are very affordable, the Sony W-series W-55 costs about $200, W-35 is $180, and the S-series S-700 is $180 as for the S-650 a low $150. Expect them in February and the S-700 in March.
