This is the world’s first Blu-ray disc camcorder. It is a single drive camcorder capable of recording one hour of high definition footage onto a standard Blu-ray disc. It has an HD quality twelve element lens system and it uses a 5.3 Megapixel CMOS image sensor. There is also a SD card slot and the camcorder can be used as a 4.32 Megapixel camera or you can save any frame of your video footage onto the SD card at a resolution of 2.1 Megapixels.
The camcorder can also record standard quality footage onto a DVD. It is designed for easy use but it certainly isn’t cheap at around $1,299 and since you can only record an hour of footage onto a single sided Blu-ray disc you may want to wait a while before investing in a Blu-ray camcorder. The first release of a new technology is seldom the best and Blu-ray camcorders are sure to come down in price and improve in quality over the coming months.
