Posted Friday, November 7th, 2008 by Alex Ion

Do you remember the first BlackBerry Pearl in 2006? I know I do. One of the biggest announcements in the mobile phone industry. One of the biggest successes. Well, BlackBerry couldn’t have left Apple, HTC and the others to dominate the market, so they’ve decided to announce another great phone, BB Storm. The company’s handset has now turned it’s face to consumers. It’s the first in the family to sport a touchscreen and the only one who can take on the iPhone 3G.

First rumors, mentioned it at BlackBerry Thunder, but it’s now settled, the name is Storm. However rumors are now over, because the guys at Phones4U in the UK are the only allowed retailer in the UK who can sell it.

“The BlackBerry Storm is revolutionary and the perfect choice in a touch-screen smartphone for both consumers and business users who are looking to make a statement. Phones 4u is thrilled to be able to offer its customers a mobile solution for style, hassle free living and unbelievable quality entertainment,” said Brendan Sweeney, Phones 4u managing director.

Just a few of the specs you’ll be getting in the new BlackBerry Storm, include:

  • 3G network support
  • built-in GPS
  • unique and innovative SurePress™ touch-screen
  • 3.2 megapixel camera with variable zoom, auto focus and a powerful flash that also provides continuous lighting when recording video.
  • 3.25-inch display and 480 x 360 pixel resolution
  • portrait or landscape mode depending on your preference
  • up to 16GB of expandable memory
  • exceptional video and image viewing and a sharp, crystal clear Internet browsing experience.

BlackBerry 8800

Posted Saturday, August 9th, 2008 by vernons

Over the last few years Blackberry has been pretty much dominating the smartphone market and in some ways they deserve it, introducing easy to use and reliable phones.  BlackBerry has recently introduced a stylish and powerful new phone called the BlackBerry® 8800.

BlackBerry® 8800

The BlackBerry® 8800 has been timely introduced to the market to compete against the IPhone 3G. The BlackBerry® 8800 is still dominating the business market and this phone is more proof as to why.
So what makes a BlackBerry® 8800 phone so compelling to business users? We believe it’s the following:

  • Excellent battery life – 528 hours of standby time
  • Excellent security – this phone is impossible to crack and safely stores your personal information.
  • Email support for Exchange (MS), Lotus (IBM) and GroupWise (Novel).
  • Reliability – We’ve never heard any reports of crashing or needing to restart your BlackBerry.
  • Ease of use – Simplicity is what people love and this what business users love about BlackBerry.

The thing that we like having on my smartphone is the option of taking a picture; the BlackBerry® 8800 doesn’t actually have a camera which is something we find strange that BlackBerry didn’t add.

Does anyone know why BlackBerry wouldn’t add a camera to a phone in this day and age?

BlackBerry 9000 series revealed

Posted Friday, March 28th, 2008 by Mihnea Boiangiu

BlackBerry 9000

BlackBerry 9000 is on its way. You can spot it in the photo above in the right side. The phone comes with an elegant steel margin and looks a lot like the iPhone, I could say. It has full QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi and HSDPA. BlackBerry 9000 has also a new user interface, a new set of icons and some slick animations. Among other features I could mention here are a built-in GPS, a 2 megapixel camera, a 480 x 320 display and of course a trackball.

Rumors say that BlackBerry 9000 could be available either in May, June or August.

BlackBerry Goes Chinese

Posted Wednesday, October 24th, 2007 by Mihnea Boiangiu

Research in Motion (RIM), which is BlackBerry’s producer, will sell its smartphones in China. The company has already shipped the first BlackBerry transport to China and intend to put them to sale later this year, perhaps close to Christmas holidays.

BlackBerry

RIM has signed an agreement with Alcatel-Lucent for the Chinese distribution. The Chinese market has a great potential for increasing the company’s sales. Also, the RIM officials announced the company is interested to ship BlackBerry for the Indian market too. Both China and India are hot prospects for BlackBerry service subscriptions.
RIM said it has over 10 million subscribers and has shipped its 20 millionth handset recently. Although the company has a strong financial background, the Chinese market could be tough. RIM will face the low-cost rivals and a popular service called RedBerry, which I think is a copy of BlackBerry.
