Vodaphone – HTC Magic

Posted Thursday, May 28th, 2009 by vernons

Google’s break into the cell phone market is doing everything but going

unnoticed; not only is there a lot of anticipation and excitement, but there’s debates, controversy, and all out arguments over their sudden interest in electronics marketing. While some are worried if Google’s growing too big, or moving too far from their search engine roots, most are just excited about the HTC Magic‘s arrival, and its stunning list of features; not limited of course to the Google operating system. The Google features on this phone go above and beyond just an awesome interface and operating system.

First, there’s the HSDPA support at 7.2Mbps and a Wi-Fi connection; massively convenient for users who might have a bit of a technological fumble time to time. One of the features people aren’t too crazy about however, is the less than impressive 3.2 megapixel camera in the phone. While a camera isn’t exactly a major part of the phone, in the era of mobile phone’s competing for packing as many high quality features into a mobile as possible, the camera’s sub-par quality constitutes a few points deduction. Only time will tell if the phone’s other great qualities, such as easy access to all Google applications, built in digital compass, and GPS will make the bigger difference in its popularity.

The LG GC900

This little guy has had a few different names; actually, it seems like the closer LG comes to launching the phone, the more terms the phone’s burgeoning fan clubs seem to find for it. There’s a lot of excitement and admiration flowing around the general appearance, and no one can argue that it’s not a gorgeous phone. It’s touch screen of course, and it has a human-friendly interface, with LG’s S-class operating system for prime "use-ability". But believe it or not, what has attracted the most attention, and is the prime feature of the LG GC900, is its camera! Thirty years ago, that notion would have been nothing short of ludicrous.

But as of the end of this May (just a few days from now!), this phone is showcasing its camera’s features; the 8 Megapixels, the screen’s use as a viewfinder, and the way the high quality lens is set in such a way in the rear of the phone as to be reminiscent of a regular digital camera. So not only do you have a touch-screen, 3G phone that rivals the Apple iPhone in many ways, but you also have a digital camera, far superior to the one inside the Apple iPhone.
