The Samsung Tocco Lite

Posted Friday, May 29th, 2009 by vernons

This phone is an absolutely brilliant idea, and whomever came up with it out at Samsung deserves some kind of consumer-friendly pat on the back award. You know how awesome touch screen phones are, we’ve all seen them, and wanted them, despite their ridiculously high cost, and an interface that may as well be in Greek for those of us who aren’t as technologically inclined as our teenage kids. The Samsung Tocco Lite was literally design to be a sort of “start up” touch screen phone, for those of us who’d rather test a method before we trust it completely. The Tocco Lite keeps all the functionality, and superior attractive design as the original Samsung Tocco mobile phone, but includes a few different features that set it apart from the rest of the touchscreen phones on the market today.

One of the most significant omissions, is the lack of 3G technology; this might sound like a loss for some of you, but you’re looking at the wrong phone. Using a 2G touchscreen mobile is the perfect way to adapt, before moving on. The list of features is conservative; drag and drop file viewing, a 3.2 megapixel camera, calendar, music player, clock, and the other basic mobile phone features. There’s nothing superfluous; it’s perfect for beginners!

The Toshiba TG01

Posted Friday, May 29th, 2009 by vernons

In the past, Toshiba hasn’t been known for its breakthrough cell phone technology; actually, quite the opposite, most have found the Toshiba technology, though great, to be a bit on the lethargic side. In terms of craftsmanship, and durability, as well as function, Toshiba is rarely surpassed; however, in the innovative new development department, they just haven’t kept pace with other mobile phone manufacturers. But watch out competitors, because Toshiba is finally parting the Red Sea of the smartphone era in the summer of 2009 with the Toshiba TG01! So what’s going to set Toshiba’s smartphone apart from the rest of the 3G herd?

The leading expert opinion is that it’s the inner workings, –although the TG01 does sport a really classy, attractive design. Like with people, it’s what’s inside that counts; and what’s inside the TG01? The Qualcomm Snapdragon 1 Ghz processor; the fastest processor ever to be placed inside a mobile phone. It contains a GPS receiver, and 3G radio, plus it includes mind boggling multimedia features. Plus it has all the natural accoutrements; 3G networking, Wi-Fi, A2DP Bluetooth, 3.2 megapixel camera, and a MicroSD card slot. Looks like Toshiba has finally made it’s mark with the TG01.

Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Set

Logitech Cordless Wave Set

This is a keyboard and mouse combination you can currently order on Amazon for just over $60. That may seem quite expensive but this keyboard features a clever ergonomic design with an elevated palm rest. It is coated in lightly padded vinyl and the keys are arranged in an arc. The varied heights are designed to match your finger length and some serious thought has gone into this design.

Keys are tactile with enough of a tap to give you feedback. The gentle wave encourages you to sit in the right position and should reduce pain in the wrists, arms and shoulders. Some keys have been moved for convenience and the delete key has been elongated. There are also a number of multimedia keys and programmable F keys. The keyboard and mouse are both wireless and you simply insert the USB dongle into your machine to use them. They both take AA batteries. The mouse is suitable for right or left handed people.

The Samsung Tocco Ultra S8300

Posted Thursday, May 28th, 2009 by vernons

This model of the Tocco is the absolute antithesis of the Tocco Lite; while the Tocco Lite focuses on simplicity and easy-to-use features, the Samsung Tocco Ultra S8300 is all about innovation. What makes the two so different? This is Samsung’s second 8 megapixel camera phone so far; and the camera quality is just one of the great features! As far as the camera portion of the phone goes, there’s a dual LED flash, autofocus, and video recording. But that leaves us wondering just how sensitive this little bundle of features is; fragility is the enemy of most mobile phone owners. Samsung’s customers can rest easy when purchasing the S8300 however, because the duralumin casing prevents scratches and fingerprints.

But don’t forget the actual attractiveness of the phone as well; it’s tiny, and weighs mere grams, plus you can even customize the look of the home screen, completing your phone’s sey look. Naturally, it has all the hot 3G capabilities, including HSDPA support at 7.2Mbps, and fast connection with its built-in accelerometer. The S8300 also includes a music player, FM radio, GPS, 12-key keypad, and a microSD slot, –so unlike with certain other touch-screen phones, you can expand the memory!
