Girl Geeks on the Rise

Posted Monday, March 31st, 2008 by Alex Ion

Geek girl message

A recent study from Solutions Research Group, came up with a staggering fact. We, men, are no longer the absolute owners of gadgets and the real definition of “geeks”. Girl geeks are now ahead of men in activities like streaming network TV, DVR use, and casual gaming, the Women and Digital Lifestyles report (PDF link) said.

70% of women say they played a PC game last month vs. 69% of men.

Though I don’t like men to lose supremacy over gadgets and tech in general I’m certain having more women to talk the Gadgetish (new language) is good. We have a lot in common now, don’t we? I wish they will love football and soccer in the near future …

Hot Legs Getting Electric Socks

Posted Monday, March 31st, 2008 by Alex Ion

Electric heated socks

The electric socks were designed to keep North Atlantic fishermen warm but I think we could use them, too. The socks are a mix between wool and polyester, with a few wires and resistors going down to under the ball of the foot. It’s actually some sort of battery-powered-heating beyond weirdness that will cost you $22 if you want it.

We’re waiting for the electric undies to keep the “guys” warm.

Samsung SGH-a827

The new Samsung SGH-a827 Access was announced these days to be the first (of two) MediaFLO TV compatible GSM phone for AT&T, that the South Korean manufacturer has built. It’s a quad-band (850/900/1800/1900MHz) GSM mobile phone with 3G support that has some interesting features including stereo Bluetooth, stereo speakers, Wireless, microSD card slot and a 1.3 megapixel camera.

The candybar shaped cellphone comes with a 2.3-inch screen display that was optimized for better TV viewing and offers “exceptional” Mobile TV reception though it doesn’t have a whip antenna. Samsung SGH-a827 Access will also feature Video share, IM and mobile email.

AT&T will launch Mobile TV this year, in May, the same month when SGH-a827 Access will go on sale.

The Stripping Matryoshka Doll

Posted Sunday, March 30th, 2008 by Alex Ion

stripping matryoshka doll

Do you remember the “40 year old virgin” doll? Following the trend here is a new one, but it’s probably not really safe for work. It’s a stripping Matryoshka doll, yes those dolls that decrease in size and are placed one inside another. It’s not really like playing strip-poker but it’s funny to buy as a gift for your boss, if he has a sense of humor.

The price is $76.21.

Jedi Master attacked by Darth Vader, for real

Posted Sunday, March 30th, 2008 by Alex Ion

smoking darth vaderJonba Hehol is a Jedi Master and the founder of the UK Church of Jedi. Something funny/weird happened the other week when the guy was giving a TV interview in his back garden and was attacked by … guess who … Darth Vader himself.

Apparently a guy that was under the influence of alcohol, wielding a metal crutch and wearing a black big-ban attacked hairdresser Barney Jones, 36, of Holyhead, the Jedi Master. After dealing with him he went over to the TV crew.

“This wasn’t a joke. This was serious,” he said to the Telegraph.

The Police is investigating the assault, but I have a small hunch that this was just a simple joke. Too bad the Police has to come up with the winner of a fight between a Jedi Master and Darth Vader.

7 Stunning Airplane (HDR) Images

I will have to agree that I have a thing for airplanes. Seeing them, getting inside or simply enjoying a good flight, I love planes. This is why I’ve been thinking to create an article to praise this addiction.

Koziol Clark Superman Stapler

Koziol Clark Superman Stapler

I don’t know about you but for me the Koziol Clark Superman Stapler is weird because I can’t find the similarities between Superman and the design. I mean, all right it probably does the job right but is Clark that ugly? Don’t think these guys have been ingenious choosing the name but they promise to “staple your papers faster than a speeding bullet!”. Beware with kryptonite paper though.

TorrentSpy to close doors

Posted Saturday, March 29th, 2008 by Alex Ion

TorrentSpyTorrentSpy, one of the biggest BitTorrent sites we heard of a few years ago, has decided to throw in the towel and close their doors, a permanent shutdown.

In 2006 they were the best and things looked pretty well until August 2007 when a federal judge ordered them to start logging user data and make it available to the MPAA. What they did? Blocked all US acceTss, which lead to a huge traffic decrease.

But that wasn’t all. MPAA said that TorrentSpy ignored the court order and continued the battle. As a matter of fact, the long lasting and obviously expensive battle with the MPAA is the main reason of the shut-down. Here’s what Justin Bunnell said:

Friends of TorrentSpy,

We have decided on our own, not due to any court order or agreement, to bring the Torrentspy.com search engine to an end and thus we permanently closed down worldwide on March 24, 2008.

The legal climate in the USA for copyright, privacy of search requests, and links to torrent files in search results is simply too hostile. We spent the last two years, and hundreds of thousands of dollars, defending the rights of our users and ourselves.

Ultimately the Court demanded actions that in our view were inconsistent with our privacy policy, traditional court rules, and International law; therefore, we now feel compelled to provide the ultimate method of privacy protection for our users - permanent shutdown.

It was a wild ride,

The TorrentSpy Team
