Sony Alpha A200 Debuts at CES

Sony Alpha A200 Debuts at CES

With the success of their Alpha A100 until now, Sony decided to upgrade and bring their latest DSLR on the market. Sony Alpha A200 is not very different from its predecessor and the big difference is the 10.2 megapixel sensor. You operate it thanks to a 2.7-inch LCD display, has the same Carl Zeiss lens, optical stabilization technology (Super SteadyShot) and a Li-ion battery with about 750 pictures autonomy.

Two models will be available from February. First one is a 18-70 mm F3.5-F5.6 and should sell for $700 while the other one is a 75-300 mm F4.5-F5.6 and will hit the shelves for $900. Preorder them starting from tomorrow if you can’t wait for a Sony Alpha A200 review before having your hands on.

Acer Announced Aspire 7720 at CES

Acer announced today at CES their latest desktop replacer, the new Aspire 7720. It has a 17-inch display, Core 2 Duo processors at 1.66GHz, 2GB of RAM a powerful 256MB GeForce 8400M GS graphics card and a 250GB hard drive.

Though it’s not the fastest processor, I think the Dolby Home Theater technology for better sound and the $1,049 price are good reasons to buy one. It’s already available from what I understood and though am I an not sure how much it weights (a big factor for me choosing a laptop) the price tickles my credit card to get one.

Hidden (spy) camera detector

Hidden (spy) camera detector

I am not one of those paranoid guys that the secret services or maybe their girlfriends are trying to spy on them but to be honest this new tool from ThinkGeek seems to be very useful. It’s a spy camera detector, a very small one, that flashes a LED light and plays an alarm when it detects something.

Frequencies from 50MHz to 3GHz can be scanned on variable distances and channels including a background noise eliminator to prevent detecting the wrong devices. The price for the wireless spy camera detector is $24.99 and you can find it in stock right away.

Let me know if you used it because I would be curious to know how good it was.

Three new LifeBook on 45nm technology

Posted Tuesday, January 8th, 2008 by Alex Ion

As you probably know the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2008 is in progress as you read. Though it’s not the biggest in the world, the attraction is almost just as big because it’s in the first few days of 2008 and we get to see how the electronics trend will look like for the rest of the year.

LifeBook N6470, LifeBook A6120, LifeBook E8410, 45nm, 45nm technology

Here is the first example, with Fujitsu announcing three new LifeBook models that use the smaller 45nm CPU technology. Fujitsu LifeBook E8410, is a 15 incher, the corporate flagship which will use the latest Intel processors (like Penryn - Intel Hi K processors) and should be available in one week from today. Fujitsu LifeBook N6470 is the big screen laptop, a 17 incher, that supports Blu-ray, powerful Centrino processors which is supposed to be the alternate solution for a desktop PC, and will be available just like the slim and sexy LifeBook A6120, in the first day of February.

Sounds like a nice upgrade from Fujitsu but I am curious to know the prices, something they haven’t disclosed yet.

AMD ready to bring ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3000 series on laptops

Posted Tuesday, January 8th, 2008 by Alex Ion

AMD just made it official that their newest ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3000 series that we’ve heard to rock the desktops until now will also be available on laptops. The news was expected and AMD (NYSE:AMD) mentioned that HD 3400 and HD 3600 models already support DirectX 10.1, for the first time. The new chipsets will include PCI Express 2.0 support and will offer 1080p HD DVD and Blu-ray movies quality.

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450

The new Radeon HD 3000 series for laptops have a nice addition using AMD’s Avivo HD Technology to free up the CPU when it’s not needed to “process”. This will lead to better power efficiency for longer battery life.

The new HD 3000 series will be used by Asus right away, while other producers will bring their laptops on the market in the first half of 2008.
