Another Mobile Linux Platform from Azingo

Posted Thursday, January 31st, 2008 by Mihnea Boiangiu

AzingoLinux for mobile phones is a good alternative to Windows Mobile, but it didn’t have success yet. The problem encountered by mobile manufacturers was integrating the software. That happened because some companies made Linux kernels, while others provided application development environments. So, the phone makers struggled to integrate the components and finally chose the convenient Windows Mobile.

Azingo, a software company, promises a complete suite of mobile Linux software and furthermore intends to help the producers to integrate the components I was telling you about. Azingo’s application offers Web widgets that can deliver information such as weather and traffic, entertainment applications and productivity software. It sounds very nice to me!

Currently there are no deals with phone manufacturers, but Azingo has announced that handsets using their software will be available in the fourth quarter.

The Chocolate Keyboard - Would You Resist?

Posted Thursday, January 31st, 2008 by Alex Ion

The Chocolate Keyboard

I’m not sure if there are things that could be said about the “chocolate keyboard” other than stuff like the X tasted great or did you try the W it has vanilla. Would that be a perfect gift for a geek?

Garmin nuvifone, a smartphone with GPS of course

Posted Thursday, January 31st, 2008 by Alex Ion

I have to agree that it took me by surprise to find out that Garmin released a smartphone instead of a new GPS navigation model, but it’s a good surprise. The Nuvifone is a full-fledged GSM HSDPA phone, has it’s own operating system and of course has GPS navigation inside.

Garmin Nuvi Phone (nuvifone)

Garmin Nuvifone also comes with a camera, has a web browser, includes Google Search, Email, text and IM functions, plays MP3 and MPEG4 file and Garmin’s online services like traffic, weather or fuel prices.

It was announced in New York City today but I don’t have a price or a carrier for it, but voices in the market thinks it’s going to be on AT&T until T-Mobile gets their HSDPA launched. Correct me if I’m wrong, but a lot of people have been waiting for something like that and it’s now available. It could become big. What do you think? (send your comments below)

IOGear USB CardBus adapter

If you don’t need a USB-to-WUSB module and want to put something in that Cardbus slot of your older laptop then IOGear has something that may make you happy (if you’re into Wireless, of course) with their latest Cardbus WUSB adapter. It does exactly what it’s supposed to, Wireless USB, but we don’t have a price for it yet. Not even availability.Source

Men think that they know more about online security than women

Internet Online Security

The concerns of online security are not as big as they should, mainly because everyone thinks their passwords are good enough, they have an anti-virus and that’s it. However the fun thing about that is that in a recent report by security soft maker AVG, men consider themselves much better than women when it comes to online security.

AVG global security strategist Larry Bridwell said that “My gut feeling, because I’m a man, is that it is one of those societal gender things”. It looks like confidence doesn’t translate into safety but hey, this could be another man thing, because security threats are gender-equal.

“Men were exceptionally confident in their own security prowess, and only 4 percent of them said they didn’t know what kind on online protection they had in place. “

The results are from a study that included 1,400 adults in the UK. How do you feel about that? Do you think (you men) are better than women at online security?
