Today, Nokia has officially launched its 8GB mobile, which is a upgraded version of N95. The new N95 model comes with 8GB memory, with integrated location mapping GPS and improved battery life. It is priced at 560 EUR before taxes or subsidies.

In addition, Nokia also offers a Spider-Man 3 themed version of this mobile. The Spider-Man 3 Edition, brings the full copy of the recent movie in the series (of course Spider Man 3), personalized themes, wallpapers and ringtones. Nokia N95 features 5 megapixel camera and Wi-Fi network. It also works in 3G networks across Europe and uses only EDGE networks from North America. By the way, there is no announcement for availability in North America.

Sony has chosen three designers to pimp some of their products due to a public showroom event. Hajime Yoshio, Zan Pon, and Ryuji Otani had the priviledge to create fine designs for Vaio VGN-CR90 laptop, SO 704i mobile phone and A800 Walkman. Unfortunately this great looking devices are not available for consumers.

Even you can’t purchase these devices, they are exposed for public at Sony Building - Plaza Ginza in Tokyo.

Akihabara has announced a new Hello Kitty phone produced by OKWAP. It is available for Taiwanese market. No price was revealed. OKWAP C150T Hello Kitty Edition has no SIM and is able to play music and video files. It also features 2 megapixel camera. Customizable with some pinkish themes, this cellphone will be a great addition for teens. We don’t know details about launching on other markets.

Apple launched iPhone Web Apps Directory which contains 200 applications for Safari browser. The applications are specially created for the 3.5″ touchscreen, so the users will have an amazing experience.

Web apps can be used on iPhone or iPod touch. There you will find entertainment (Sudoku, Bejeweled), social networks (Digg, Facebook), utilities (calculators), blogs, videos and music. You would better see yourself at Apple’s website. Browse the library and when you see an application you like tap the screen, follow the link and bookmark it for later. Great idea!

Nintendo plans to launch a home fitness game. “Wii Fit” will be available for sale in Japan on December 1st for about 8,800 yen or $75. It uses a pressure-sensing “balance board” like in the picture below. The “Wii Balance Board” can sense motion and is used to play sport games like soccer, ski, aerobics and even yoga.

The company plans to launch “Wii Fit” on the other markets due to the success of the Wii console. Nintendo has outsold Sony’s PS3, which is more expensive and not so funny. Wii Sports gained success because it addressed to all kind of ages from kids to elderly. The rival PlayStation offers more expensive entertainment. Thus, Sony cut the price off by 10 percent in Japan this week.

Still I would prefer a nice “fitness game” from Nintendo. I would love to test that Wii Fit right away!

LG has already attracted attention collaborating with prestigious names like Prada and Roberto Cavalli. It seems the company will strike again, this time in a joint venture with Rolex. I know, it is unusual for Rolex to get involved in cellphones industry, but they have the name and LG has the market.

The news came via Engadget which had sources to claim the collaboration between LG and Rolex. Although, there weren’t published any pictures of this mysterious mobile, it could feature a Rolex watch-face that’s embedded in the casing, luxurious leather finish and a transparent keyboard. Even they didn’t confirmed any dates about releasing, you should expect something very expensive. We will come back with any news about this phone in the future.

I wasn’t familiar until today of what Internet2 Network is all about, but today I read some articles about the extreme speeds they reached in their private fiber optic network. In April they managed to send data at 7.67GBps by using standard communication protocols and then, 24 hours later, beat that by using IPv6 protocols to achieve 9.08Gbps.

News I’ve read today mentioned that Internet2 is prepared and will be offering 100Gbps capacities, through a new technology called Dynamic Circuit Network. Apparently, with Internet2 completed, researchers and universities will be able to share enormous amounts of data without using www, simply setting up dedicated 10Gbps point-to-point links on the fly.

This service will be launched, officially, in January 2008, but Dr. Carl Lundstedt, of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln already showed a demo of it, by transferring one-third of a terabyte of data in just five minutes.

The gaming experts, Kotaku, just let go of a rumor on the market, that Microsoft is working on developing a new motherboard for XBox 360 that will use smaller ATI graphics chips, 65nm, and smaller memory chips all of these in the attempt of reducing costs and heat.

Called “Jasper”, the upgrade was announced by Mercury News and should go live somewhere in August 2008. Considering that when XBox 360 upgraded to Falcon motherboards, Microsoft reduced the price by $50, so I wonder if it will be worth it this time because 10 months it’s a lot of time and unless they have a cheaper solution Wii and Sony will take the lead.

The guys at WirelessInfo.com made a small test between the new Nokia N95 and the old one to see the battery’s life when used on EDGE and the results came out nicely. It stayed on for 9 hours and 14 minutes and though you may think that was the “big” battery they’ve used, it’s still impressive.

This time they tested on EDGE because last week they got some surprising reports when they made the same test on a 3G connection and apparently the new Nokia N95 ran for one hour less than its predecessor.

Mozilla’s VP of Engineerring, Mike Schroepfer, announced that with all these developments on mobile phones nowadays it’s time for Mozilla to go mobile with “no compromise” to security or other issues. Firefox is the world’s most popular open-source browser and with a market of 20 mobile devices to outnumber 1 computer I think they will do good.

First Mozilla needs to finish developing Firefox 3 before they release the mobile version that will be able to run Firefox extensions and allow people to build rich applications via XUL. Two new people have been accounted in the team: Christian Sejersen, head of browsers at Openwave (NSDQ: OPWV) and Brad Lassey which moved from France Telecom (NYSE: FTE) R&D.

* Mozilla will add mobile devices to the first class/tier-1 platform set for Mozilla2. This means we will make core platform decisions with mobile devices as first-class citizens.

* We will ship a version of “Mobile Firefox” which can, among other things, run Firefox extensions on mobile devices and allow others to build rich applications via XUL.
