Posted Tuesday, August 7th, 2007 by Marius Trusculescu

Two new mobile phones were unveiled today by Nokia, world leader in the mobile phone manufacturing market. Benefiting from a gorgeous original design, the two handsets are set to hit the market in the third quarter of 2007 at EUR 210 (N7500) and respectively EUR 400 (N7900).Nokia Shows N7500 & N7900 PRISM Mobile Phones

N7900 Prism comes with 3G and quad band GSM support so you it can practically support networks from all over the world, making it ideal for those who travel a lot. For multimedia Nokia added a 2 MP digital camera, and photos, videos or any other documents can be stored on the built-in 1 GB of available storage.

N7500 Prism is the a cheaper version of the previous model, but it also packs a 2 MP camera for taking photos or recording videos. Nokia also claims the N7500 supports up to 9 hours of continuous music playback so the multimedia support is one of its advantages. Apparently the internal storage doesn’t match the N7900, but a microSD slot can be used to add up to 2 GB (enough to hold 1500 songs according to Nokia).

Xbox 360 Price Drop is Official

Posted Tuesday, August 7th, 2007 by Marius Trusculescu

Microsoft has to be the worst company when it comes to keeping internal information secret. We had our proof this spring when rumours (and photos) of the Xbox 360 Elite version reached online magazines weeks before the official announcement.

PowerKayak from Surfango puts paddling away

PowerKayak from Surfango puts paddling away

I love kayaking, or at least I love the concept of kayaking because I don’t practice. That is because it’s hard to keep your balance and after paddling for one hour you feel your muscles scream. Yes I am aware that’s healthy and I was really going to try it again, but after hearing what Surfango have just created, I think I won’t.

PowerKayak is a “boat” with a four-stroke engine installed in the back, that can fit only one person and can cut waves at a top speed of 28 miles per hour. With the two gallon fuel tank you can spend a couple of hours in the water playing with the steering. PowerKayak comes with two models Hawaii and Adventurer.

Now let’s get down to business. The price is $2899 according to Gizmag.

Virgin America geeky planes unleashed

Virgin America geeky planes unleashed

Imagine how geeky a plane with USB and Ethernet ports would look for someone not passioned by technology. Well, it looks like Artur Bergman got a tour on Virgin America planes and he really found some great geek stuff. Every seat has 110 volt AC, extremely smart in-flight entertainment system, USB and ethernet which makes me think they will have internet. How about the purple mood lightning?

There are other things worth mentioned like a server with about 3000 MP3s that allows you to save a playlist that will save under your name and will be used the next time you book a flight with Virgin America. You also get satellite TV, games (Doom), private chatrooms and messages.

Now if I think better, those ethernet ports which we are not sure if they have Internet, can be used for playing Doom with other passengers, right? Can you imagine the whole plane playing and screaming “die, die, die”? What will the secret services think?

Canon’s iVIS HG10 AVCHD, hard disk based HD camcorder

Posted Wednesday, August 1st, 2007 by Alex Ion

It looks like Canon is ready to jump into the big league for hard disk based camcorders, with the new model Canon iVIS HG10, that will bring high-definition quality, available from September. It comes packed with a 40GB hard disk that you can store up to 5.5 hours of ACHD recording (highest quality), compressed at 15MBps.

Canon iVIS AVCHD HG10 hard disk based camcorder

Canon HG10, HDD based camcorder review

Gizmodo already had their hands on the Canon HG10 and it looks like they really tested it, so here is what these guys found out:

- The world’s smallest hard disk HD camcorder, is very compact, but it’s not too small and allows easy access to all those buttons and controls.

- A bit disappointing battery life for the standard battery that you can use for an hour of shooting. An extended battery however will cost, and will give you 2 hours and 15 minutes of shooting.

- Better AVCHD codec, than Sony and Panasonic.

- It records 1080i HD at a resolution of 1440 x 1080. Only 1440 pixels are written to on the disk to save space and then it’s stretched back to full 1920 x 1080 when you playback.

- Has a super range optical image stabilization, which results in very good stabilization for high-frequency shaking but also for those small hand movements.

The result is that Canon HG10, is a great camcorder, will cost $1299 and will ship from October in the United States.
