Acer Attacks The PDA Market With the c500

Posted Monday, March 26th, 2007 by Marius Trusculescu

I will like to congratulate Acer for the great design of the new c500. It really appealed to me from the moment I laid my eyes on it.

Having the looks out of our way I must confess that, even if at first the look of an item may attract me, it is the specification that have the ultimate saying. So let’s see what the c500 is all about. As a portable media player the device Acer PDA c500offers music (MP3) playback and photo imaging and an SD/MMC expansion slot has been added to cope with the storage requirements of these. That storage can also be used to add more maps to the navigation software the PDA has built-in trough the GPS module.

The hardware components of this PDA are powered by Windows Mobile v5.0 operating system that offer a wide range of application trough the bundled programs. You can even browse Internet by connecting to your wireless network using the built-in WiFI 802.11 b/g adapter and there is also Bluetooth support.

Gigabyte H663 Entertainment Unit

Posted Monday, March 26th, 2007 by Marius Trusculescu

Home entertainment is the new battleground for electronic manufacturers as the PC market no longer generates the expected profit margins due to extreme competition and price cuts. It’s clear that the leaders from the computer arena are focusing on this field as both Intel and AMD have developed dedicated platforms for this market (Intel ViiV and AMD Live!).

Gigabyte H663 Entertainment Unit

For today’s topic I chose to speak about the H663 unit Gigabyte recently introduced. Based on the Intel ViiV platform the new product is comes with the Windows XP Media Center Edition installed. Responsible for the computing power is a Intel Pentium D Processor 820/920 mounted on a GA-8I945EF-RH motherboard that offers SATA II hard disk support, integrated graphics, high fidelity 7.1 audio support and an TV Tuner add-in card. To read optical discs Gigabyte included a DVD dual unit, while a 7-in-1 card reader allows you to have instant access to pictures directly from the memory card of your digital camera.

Motorola LAZR, the new baby in the *ZR series!

Posted Monday, March 26th, 2007 by Alex Ion

I am not going to start this one by saying all the clamshell models Motorola launched during the last few months but they all seem to have something in common besides the *ZR suffix, and that is the design. There are rumors now that Motorola is launching a new LAZR model running on Linux and with 512 MB internal memory. It got from it’s bigger brother the KRZR the shinny looks, chromed casing and a 2-inch display. There are disadvantages like the non-existent memory card slot. We are waiting for it at the CTIA next week. Check up the movies below! Source!

Relativity watch pays respects to Einstein

Posted Monday, March 26th, 2007 by Alex Ion

Relativity watch pays respects to EinsteinI don’t think there are many people around the world that wouldn’t know who Einstein is and that he was the first in the world to talk about relativity and about gravity. It seems however that we all pay our respects differently because the idea of a Relativity watch is way beyond what I’ve been thinking.

The relativity watch is very smart by the fact that the hands won’t move, but the numbers will. How neat is this? Now I wonder if people will become accustomed with this way of reading a watch because it can be hard at first. The price is $29 and you can get smart with your friends when you show them the new relativity watch so that you can look good in their eyes. Buy it here.

Posted Sunday, March 25th, 2007 by Marius Trusculescu

Splashpower aims at being a universal charger for all you electronic devices. On top of that it will be able to charge your devices wireless and multiple devices will be able to be recharged simultaneously.

How will that be possible? Well you will need the Splashpower pad, which is something like a support, and the SplashpowerSplashpower - How To Recharge Your Devices W/O Wires capable device would need to be put on this pad for recharging, with no electrical contacts needed for the process. The only needed wire is the wire from the AC power outlet to the Slashpower pad.

There is no date set for the release of the product and no price has been communicated but we are eagerly expecting its arrival as we all liked the idea.

…with the new massage chairs from Panasonic.

Panasonic Massage ChairPanasonic is trying to liberate us from the daily stress by presenting us with new luxury-class massage chairs: the Real Pro Ultra model EP30004, Swede-Atsu Companion EP1273. The therapeutic value of these two new products is backed-up by the endorsement they received from the American Chiropractic Association.

Offering a wide variety of programs, the new luxury chairs will undoubtedly satisfy (almost) all your (massage and relaxation) needs but the prices might scare of some of the customers. Being available now the Swede-Atsu Companion EP1273 has a suggested price of $2,500 but the Real Pro Ultra model EP30004 will be priced at $4,000-5,000 when it will reach the market in August.

Asus Arctic Square For Cool Processors

Posted Sunday, March 25th, 2007 by Marius Trusculescu

It’ s a pretty well known fact that when it comes to processors you want them kept as cool as possible. But with the increase in computing power, the power consumption and therefore the dissipated heat are becoming a real challenge for Asus Arctic Square Coolercooler manufacturers.

Last week Asus has presented one of its solutions to this problem with the Arctic Square cooler. Designed to remove the heat out of even the newest quad core processors (4 cores on the same die), the new model has the base and fins made out of copper (better, but pricier than aluminum). The heat transfer from the warm bottom to the cooler top is boosted with a 4 heat pipes system. For effective air flow control Asus used a 90 mm blue led fan which makes both the processor and the looks cool.

Apple TV already hacked to run XviD

Posted Friday, March 23rd, 2007 by Mihnea Boiangiu

In the image below you can see playing an episode of LOST series, encoded in XviD extension. That should be nothing abnormal, but it is played on Apple TV. How could this be possible? It’s simple! The Apple TV has already been hacked.

Apple TV

That should not be so hard according to the users of this forum. They teach you how to do it. First of all, you should take out the Apple TV’s hard disk and then to connect it to a Mac. As Walt Mossberg said, the hard disk is seen by the Mac like a normal HFS volume. The next step is to install the SSH server Dropbear and a simple custom script. After doing that you could watch some XviD movies.

However we don’t recommend you to do that hack from many reasons. You could damage the device and you could loose the guarantee certificate. On the other hand is so tempting to view some movies on the big screen…
