Mypal A730 Could Be Anybody’s Best Friend
Posted Wednesday, January 31st, 2007 by Marius TrusculescuI have a great little device for you now, the Mypal A730 Pocket-PC launched by Asus. Going by today’s trend, Asus managed to include a lot of functions inside this small stylish apparatus.
But it’s not the design I intend to present as the specs of the A730 are by far more appealing and I’ll try to convince of this by enumerating just a few of them. Let’s start with the 1.3 MP camera meant for taking beautiful pictures and for recording small videos that you can later admire on the 3.7″ (640×480) LCD color display.
For wireless connectivity we have only Bluetooth support so the device is lacking a WiFi card which could be a major disadvantage. Realizing this Asus included WiFi 802.11 b in the A730W version but the a and g standards are still unsupported. An Intel XScale PXA270 520 MHz provides the computing power of this device. For expanding the 64 MB of built-in memory Asus added memory card slots for CF and SD cards.
The operating system for the A730 is the Microsoft Windows Pocket PC 2003 that comes with a lot of extra applications like the software for editing Word, Excel documents or the Windows Media Player for music and video playback. As for the picture taking and video capturing there some Asus programs that can even allow editing on the pocket PC.
Overall, this device is a pretty nice device that tries and succeeds to deliver both a multimedia experience and true PC funtions, but it has a major disadvantage in the reduced support for WiFi connectivity.

Casio announced the EXILIM ZOOM EX-Z75, a 7.2 megapixel camera, which is an addition to its stylish series of Exilim digital cameras. This new camera features a newly wide LCD display for better viewing, ease of use and delivers effective 7.2 megapixels.
When I say remote I am not talking about miles distances, but about a few feet. For example by keeping a DAVE portable hard disk in your pocket you will benefit from all its storage capacity on your mobile phone. The devices will transfer data among them trough a Bluetooth connection but the for the consumers it will be as if the hard drive was part of the phone itself.
devices is the small display and the small data input interface (keyboard, joystick, stylus or other). I really hope new technology will provide the solutions, but for now I come to admire the little tricks designers use in order to increase the display and the functionality of their products.
The device of our interest is a 60″ Plasma HDTV (High Definition TV) with an integrated DVR (Digital Video Recorder). Basically, with this device you can watch TV and record your favorite shows, football games and everything else you like on the 160 GB hard drive for watching it later.
For now the features I will present are not confirmed, but knowing this kind of rumors have became true in the past we might have an improved iPhone brought by Meizu even before June. According to the rumor the M8 design and UI are copying the iPhone but the hardware is slightly different (read it better) having a 3 MP digital camera, 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth wireless connectivity and a TV out port. If we consider the iPhone has no 3G and its camera is only 2 MP we can say the M8 is the better product. Yet we can’t estimate the result of a court battle as the winner might be decided in there if Apple will manage to block the Meizu product from reaching the customers.
iPod Shuffle is available in new colors. Besides the original silver color, iPod shuffle comes in pink, orange, green and blue. We find out that the new iPod shuffle is coming with new headphones, like the ones shipped with the other iPod models for the past several months. Storage capacity remained 1GB and the price $79. Anyway the new model looks better than its predecessor. Thanks to the simple built-in clip, iPod Shuffle fits very well on your jacket, purse trap or shirt sleeve.
